Digital Dashboard
Opportunity
The InnovateTech Enterprises (fictional name) has taken the time to conceptualize a probable opportunity of having a Digital Dashboard that will enable access to comprehensive data and information about Innovation progress in InnovateTech Enterprises . This dashboard aims to fulfill a digital metric function that will be instrumental in reaching certain goals and OKRs that are set to be achieved by 2023.
At the moment Innovation Managers, EVPs and Board Members don’t have sufficient access & adequate information to a uniquely structured dashboard, this in turn has supported and provided motivation that the design team embarks on an initiative to help bring the Digital Dashboard to reality and be vital in the quest that the 2023 goal be met.
Goals
The Digital Dashboard aims to be the central location where designated users involved in Digital Innovation can track progress.
Digital Dashboard will also aim to show the effectiveness & value of the Digital Innovation approach within InnovateTech Enterprises .
Designing a valuable concept, a strong user-centric approach will take to ensure great Digital Innovation success.

Research and Analysis
3 rounds of iterations were made with innovation managers, D&I project manager, and EVP to develop an in-depth understanding of their needs and create alignment on a potential solution. Utilizing numerous innovation frameworks, the team efficiently structured the research and identified additional value opportunities. See below for a few sample frameworks.
Two customer journeys were created to illustrate the current process and the desired process that will be enabled by the future offering of the Digital dashboard.
User interview was the most important method for the team to validate assumptions and concepts. We have interviewed 3 Innovation managers, 1 EVP, and 1 D&I Project manager.
Service blueprint illustrates how the customer journey will be supported by the Digital dashboard, by the UI (frontstage) and the backend (backstage).
Prior to creating a low-fidelity prototypes, the design team had a brainstorm session to visualize the initial ideas.
Assumptions
In close collaboration with the involved stakeholders, essential assumptions concerning the concept were identified, tested and validated.
User personas
It was discovered that different roles have different priorities of information that need to be shown in the dashboard. Thus, we identified 4 personas: Regional Innovation Manager, Division Innovation Manager, EVP and the Chairman.
Prototypes
During the problem-fit project phase, four prototypes were developed.
The first three versions were created in wireframes, with which the team as able to test assumptions and pivot quickly. Each version of the wireframes contained various views to meet the needs of divisional innovation managers, regional innovation managers, D&I project manager, EVPs and the chairman. The first high-fidelity prototype developed specifically for the EVP and Chairman personas to support the board meeting presentation.
Summary
Research has shown that the Digital Dashboard is indeed a solution that will solve many user problems.
The digitization process at InnovateTech Enterprises and the Innovation objectives are however the basis for this development.
Access to a simple and complete digital tool is vital to monitor & follow up continuously on Innovation projects, and also convey the goals of each user more clearly, is essential for the times ahead.
